Setting an A Record

When a domain is created through easyDNS, a parked page is created, and the A record points to the easyDNS webserver.

  • When you are ready to point it to a website, and your web hosting company has provided you with an IP address (52.39.109.56) for the site, click on Edit to begin.
  • The DNS root domain is always represented in the 'Host' field by the @. A wildcard record (one that resolves any host that doesn't actually have an A record listed) is represented by an asterisk *.
  • Erase 'PARK' from the IP field on the right and replace it with 52.39.109.56, the IP address.
  • When you click Next, it will show you what the new settings are and ask you to confirm.
  • Once you click confirm, the change will be saved, and easyDNS will update your zone file accordingly. The changes will take effect immediately for some, but may take a few hours to propagate.
